Spring Fisheries Event

UPDATE: We have five students signed up to take part in this event. Space is limited. We can take 3 more students. See one of the club leaders to get your name on the list. We are on schedule for the 21st of April at 10 AM at Chandler's Mill Pond just outside of Montross. Parents are welcome to attend if they let me know ahead of time so we can make sure space is not an issue.

We are tentatively working on meeting with VDGIF Fisheries Biologist, Scott Herrmann, at Chandlers Mill Pond on April 21st or 22nd near Montross. He will be doing fisheries sampling of the pond and students may participate by alerting Mr. Fike ASAP of their interest. Student would be responsible for measuring and weighing fish as well as the data collection for VDGIF. This is a great opportunity for students to see how fisheries work is done, learn some biology and work with a real pro on managing a pond. Mr. Herrmann is very knowledgeable and can answer a lot of questions. If you like to fish and would like to see what types and sizes of fish are in Chandlers Mill Pond this is a great way to do it.
Contact Mr. Fike if you are interested. mfike@kgcs.k12.va.us. This is NOT a school sponsored or affiliated event. It will be done over spring break and not during school hours.
